About

Developed for Glenelg Shire Council to use in the community engagement materials ahead of their development of our Council Plan/Health and Wellbeing Plan. Created initially for use on a ‘postcard survey’ – printed on the front of a postcard with the survey on the back.

Each image was developed to target specific demographic groups in the Glenelg Shire community eg. youth, children and families, elderly, First Peoples, rural communities, women and those living with a disability.

Up first was representing the bio-diversity and community of the Glenelg Shire Coast line. Focusing on Portland the team wanted the iconic lighthouse, wind turbines, tram, marina, whales and upwelling all present. It was a visual feat!

The team really wanted to make sure more rural / farming communities felt visible in the designs. Making sure to include sheep, horses and of course kelpies amongst the Casterton trees and rolling hills.

Budj Bim is an inactive volcano that last spewed lava 30-39,000 years ago. Dramatically altering the areas waterways and wetlands. Creating environmental conditions that produced abundant food quantities enabling the Gunditjmara to permanently settle. Now a national park, there are many cultural sites with visitor tours showcasing indigenous knowledge like eel basket traps.

Finally the team really wanted to showcase the adventure of the Glenelg River. With the Great South West Hiking Walk, the boathouses, kayaking, paddle boarding and of course black swans.
