About

MAJELLA is a small independent production company that champions video storytelling which is inclusive, diverse and empowering.

Founder Gabrielle Pearson came to me with their existing logo. They wanted to keep the aesthetic treatment while changing the posture of the figure, level of finish and they wanted it to move.

Research & Development

Using the original logo, seen here, as a jumping off point, I referenced renaissance paintings & old Hollywood glamour shots when designing the new figures pose. Matching the new typefaces designed by Play On Play studios.

Work In Progress

My initial iteration was a simple looping 2D Animated boil of the new logo design. A semi reclining femme with her hand on her hip laying over the text logo.

The Client wanted more dynamic movement and a possible transition from a close up to a wide shot. Shooting some reference footage at home during lockdown. I roughed out some movement. Starting with a close up of the new figure pushing her hair behind her ear. Then zooming out as she lays down over the text.

The cleaned up iteration was working better, however the client wanted less booty on the figure as she lay down.

Final Delivery

While my assistant Sylvie was cleaning up the animation MAJELLA made an executive decision to change the typography design. Luckily this didn’t effect the animation BUT did alter the final design. Creating a much more regal look.
