About
Personal zines, drawings & photographs are a strong element of Baby Velvets visual identity as a band. So in 2020 when COVID pandemic lockdowns mean’t we couldn’t shoot a live action music video. Motion collage made the most sense.
While the video includes some scanned versions of Baby Velvet’s own archive ofg photos and zines. Most of the collage assets used in the video were thoughtfully sourced from public domain websites, cut out and altered digitally. By myself of my assistant Sylvie.

The lyrics of this song are so cinematic that upon first listen I started to see the story of a Las Vegas wedding.
Style Frames
While some shots changed throughout the process for the most part the storyboard acted as a very accurate guide for the style frames. We were some what limited by the images we found BUT we used some photo bashing and manipulation to create assets we couldn’t find.
Animation
We animated the collage within After Effects utilising the 2.5 function to simulate a house of cards falling away.
