About
Supported by the City of Melbourne, The Meat Market, EPSON, and Lupa, I had the great privilege of taking part in the Centre for Projection Art, Masterclass in Projection Art.
Facilitated by Yandell Walton and taking place over four days, it provided a platform for artists to develop skills in site-responsive projection art. Learning through a practical workshop culminating in a final night public exhibition.

Facilitating Artist
The Centre for Projection Art is the premier Australian advocate, incubator and producer of projection art. They are committed to developing the integration and use of projection art within a wide range of artistic outcomes.
Artists participating included Stormy Pyeatte, Maria Graterol, Madi Sherburn, Lilah Benetti, Kenneth Suico, Emily Simek, Devika Bilimoria, Ariel Ruby & Jen Valender.
Over full four days we explored projection art, from ideation and inspiration, techniques/ tech and equipment, to practically responding to sites, mapping and setting up projection installations.
Work In Progress
Using found objects from around The Meat Market to test my mapping skills. I placed an little A Frame up the wall. I liked shapes the shadows it created but it lacked structural integrity so in an impulsive move, I took off my shoes. Standing the legs of the A-Frame in each shoe. This element of play helped me loosen up and concentrate on my projection technique.
I had not prepared a video for the workshop in advance. So I improvised, editing a collection of my looping animations together into a kind of self portrait assemblage.
